Abstract
The similarities in histologic and cytologic appearance coupled with overlapping clinical
presentations between mycosis fungoides and S zary syndrome have led to the concept
that these disorders are a part of spectrum of disease for which the term cutaneous
T-cell lymphoma has been proposed. The clinical course of this lymphoma is generally
indolent particulary for patients with the disease confined to the skin. But occult
systemic involvement can be found at presentation and systemic involvement is common
in later stages, when there is involvement of the lymph nodes, blood, and viscera.
Patients with more advanced stage are not cured by any localized treatment. In addition
to total skin electron beam irradiation, systemic chemotherapy has been administered to
patients who had advanced disease of progressive cutaneous disease or to selective
patients in the early stages.
The purpose of this report is to present a patient with S zary syndrome (stage IVB)
treated with combined radiochemotherapy consisting of total - skin electron beam
irradiation and BACOP (adriamycin, cyclophosphamide, vincristine, bleomycin and
prednisolone) combination chemotherapy.
